PROPHETS IN HINDUISM : Prophets were made Gods

There are certain backgrounds of incarnated deites which actually represent the story line of Prophets of Gods, thus can be said that those were possibly ancient prophets who were converted to Gods through diviance in scriptures of Hinduism. According to study and research it shows that all of them were either messengers, mighty lords or fictional characters.

We are taking a few examples to make sure that point discussed here is making some sense or not.

Brahama

Popular Understanding by FollowersCross Reference from History / Other Religions
BRAHAMA is said to be god-father of all mankind; to some places he is said to be father of all deitiesABRAHAM is said to be the father of all messengers; father of Abrahamic religions
“Book of Brahama” the famous “Brahama Sutra” holds the collection of Babylon scriptures

Discussion about birth of universe & life hereafter

Discusses about Monotheistic God

Era related to Abrahamic times as well with various collections of regional scriptures
The “Book of Abraham” contains some stories of Babylon era as well.

Discussion about birth of universe & life hereafter

Discusses about submission to Monotheistic God

It is not preserved and most of it is lost in mill of time.
Brahama is amongst the first onesAbraham is amongst the most beloved one
  • It can be safely said that Brahama was not deity / god as stories related to him are from different eras which can be cross verified in history as of stories & mythologies of human being and not of any type of god.
  • His role can be more seen as high caliber Rishi of very early times.
  • Some theological researchers / historians have depicted that Prophet Abraham with minor spelling change (Brahama & Abraham, movement of a) is referred as Brahama in Hindu scriptures. (It holds weak authority)

Manu / Mannu

Popular Understanding by FollowersCross Reference from History / Other Religions
Major story related Manu is in Manu-Simriti officially known as Manava-Dharma-Shastra

Preaching of System of God to his people

Related to great flood, making of iconic arc, collection of animal pairs & education of law / system to mankind.

He had a very long life.
Great flood in history is evident in Babylonian scripts, Sumarian scripts, Torah, Bible (book of Genesis) & Holy Quran (chapter of Nuh) with the name Prophet Noah

who preached law / system of God

Discussion on great flood was sent upon disbelievers including some of his family members. He made great arc and gathered pair of each earthly living being.

Preached 960 years (an exceptional long life span)
Depicted as Rishi (messenger of God) in Vedas & Puranas when Manu is discussed.Discussed as one of the great Prophets. Above mentioning has portrayed him a religious preacher (man) & not as God.
  • Manu OR Mannu is most likely to be great prophet Noah OR Nuh
  • He was a human being with exceptionally long life span as discussed in Vedas & Purans
  • Declared deity in Manu-Simriti (Simritis are word of man / what was remembered by man), contradicting to Vedas

Ram / Ramma

Popular Understanding by FollowersCross Reference from History / Other Religions
Discussed in great detail Rama-yana the book of Ittehaas from Simriti collection with an epic battle in Land of Lanka where he defeated Rawana (the evil & cleaver elite). He took help from Hanuman (the ape god) & freed his spouse “Sita”. In Vedas, Ram is depicted as a lawful prince with tricky marital affair with Sita & later became a powerful king.No discussion anywhere found in any other religion / mythology however, it looks like a typical war of power between forces of good & evil. Where after several twists & turns good conquers evil.
Ram talked about “seven types of earths & skies”Concept of seven inhabitable planets with their own seven skies like we have for this planet “Earth” is present in Abrahamic religions as well.
  • Markandey Katju (an Indian jurist and former Supreme Court judge of India who served as chairman for the Press Council of India.) writes “Ram is not a god in the original Ramayan in Sanskrit by Valmiki. He is only a prince (and later a king) but no god. He becomes a god 2000 years later in Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas.”

Rationale: God will not be promoted from prince to king (as God is far superior than king himself), Epic saga of Ramayana is the quest of his family life challenges & epic battle when he was a prince.

  • His messages are depicting to that of Rishi’s work & not god of any kind because some of the information associated with Ram is as similar as revealed knowledge form other scriptures as well which sounds like that Ram might be a Messenger “Rishi” who was given knowledge like many other unheard Rishis who came to the land of Hind for education & eradication of falsehood.

Krishna

Popular Understanding by FollowersCross Reference from History / Other Religions
Often depicted as a young, playful and mischievous boy, as well as a wise and powerful ruler in Mahabharata, Bhagavata Purana and Vishnu Purana. Krishna had 16108 wives as per Harivamsa and the Bhagavata Purana. These wives were known as “gopis”.This area shows nothing God like character.
Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, as recorded in Bhagavad Gita, are considered to be one of the most important texts in HinduismThis area of instruction delivery which encircles devotion, moral character & piousness is depicting him either as Rishi (messenger of God) OR a wise warlord who became king.
  • Krishna in history as discussed in sacred scriptures is a warlord with a playful and mischievous personality with a great number of wives which cannot be the traits of God.
  • As recorded in history his moral teachings to Arjun either depicts him as one of the many Rishis or a King, but not a god as preached & worshiped widely.
  • There are many others who can be termed as Rishis / scholars / messengers however with little to no authentic proofs, can be included in this research study.
  • It is can be convincingly said that the traits associated with each deity is an adjective & story related to most of the deities are taken from different scriptures & mythological epics. Which clearly means that Rishis, Warlords, Kings with their families and nobles had been nominated and worshiped as gods firstly from locals & then preached under the banner of religion.
  • Most of them in history can be Rishis / Messengers of God who were sent to the land of Hind for eradication of false hood from land. Later converted to deity.

Conclusive Note

We do not know that above mentioned few Incarnated Gods were true prophets of God or not as they are not mentioned in holy scriptures of different religions. However, it is truely fascinating that stories & some prechings of these dieties resemble to great extent to that of true prophets of God.

Finally, we can say that “they were neither God nor any type of incarnation at all. They were humans being graduated as gods in mystical & mythical system of land”.
